Make your holiday party jolly with the most delicious egg nog recipe ever! I can’t stand waiting all year to make this myself. If you’ve never had fresh made nog and only the store bought kind, you’re truly missing out.
Yields about 6-7 cups or about one pitcher.
Ingredients
•4 eggs, yolks and whites divided
•1/3C and 1T granulated sugar
•1pt whole milk
•1tsp fresh nutmeg
•3oz bourbon
Directions
- In a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks until they begin to lighten in color. Add the 1/3C sugar and continue to beat until sugar is dissolved. Gradually add in the milk, cream, bourbon, and nutmeg until combined.
- In a clean bowl with the stand mixer, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Add the 1T sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Whisk whites into the milk mixture, chill, and serve with a light dusting of nutmeg on top.
*Note: For cooked egg nog do the following:
- Beat yolks and sugar as above. Place milk cream, and nutmeg in a medium sauce pan over high heat and bring just to a boil. remove from heat and add to the egg yolks very gradually while whisking briskly as to not scramble your eggs. Return to heat and bring mixture up to 160°F, remove from heat, add, bourbon, and chill in refrigerator.
- Prepare egg whites as above and whisk into the milk mixture.
The only thing left to do is….
