National Oreo Cookie Day (and don't forget Easter is a few hops away)...

National Oreo Cookie Day is Saturday, March 6th and my 3-ingredient Oreo Pie will make you start thinking of spring and summer...it's easy as 1 - 2 - 3, so give it a try to celebrate!  Make it a family project and make it fun!

In my blog, I like to share fun and timely recipes and facts (and you know I love to throw in a little history lesson about the topic).   The first Oreo was sold on March 6, 1912, to a grocer in Hoboken, New Jersey.   And until 100 years ago, it was referred to as an "Oreo Biscuit".  Eww, that doesn't even sound good.  Thank goodness someone decided to change it - several times over the years.  Read on...

The Oreo Biscuit was renamed in 1921 to "Oreo Sandwich" and in 1948, the name was changed to "Oreo Crème Sandwich".  Then in 1974 it became the "Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookie", the name that has remained to this day.  But let's be honest here; who really calls it an Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookie?  It will always just be the lovely Oreo cookie!

By 2017, more than 40 billion Oreo cookies were being produced annually in 18 different countries around the world.  Wow, and I thought I ate a lot of them.   Ha Ha, I didn't even make a dent!

Who would think of an Oreo cookie as 'healthy', but believe it or not - they are vegan and kosher!   Another fun fact is the plural or Oreo is - Oreo...so if you have more than one, it's Oreo cookies, not Oreos.   Only thing better than my Oreo Pie are my luxurious confections from E.O.D Extra Ordinary Delights @ http://www.eodfudge.com

Candy in general is one of my favorite subjects.   I know this year is flying by, but let me gently remind you to hop to it because Easter is just around the corner.  Our treats are for kids too, they are kid tested and approved, so splurge or let the kids have the peeps on April 4th, while you enjoy your delightful treats from E.O.D; so hippity hop on over to http://www.eodfudge.com   Confections so delectable, you might want to order extra so you can share with friends and family!
