Chocolate and mint - it may seem like an unusual combination; it has many benefits – not the least of which is its amazing taste!  However, many health benefits are also known to come from joining these two tasty treats together.

Not only does chocolate help produce serotonin and dopamine (some believe it’s an Aphrodisiac), but the combination of that with mint also makes it an overall healthier candy!  That’s because mint is a powerful and aromatic herb that aids in digestion and freshens the breath!  It’s no wonder the Ancient Romans and Greeks valued mint for those same reasons and its ability to be used in many kinds of foods.

However, the popularity of mint-flavored chocolates didn’t truly occur until the late 19th century when solid chocolate was being manufactured as candy.  And mint combined with chocolate didn’t become a popular concept until the 1940’s.  In fact, the Girl Scouts began selling Thin Mint cookies in 1951 because of the popularity of the flavor combination!

Now, the combination of chocolate and mint has become a classic – Chocolate Mint Day, sponsored by the US National Confectioners Association, is celebrated every year, mostly with people buying their favorite (might I suggest E.O.D’s delectable and luxurious Mint Alps Fudge) and eating to their heart’s delight.

While it might be surprising that combining an herb that grows so prolifically, with the product of the cacao bean, is so yummy – somehow it just works.

E.O.D's Chocolate Mint Alps is a delightful, perfect mix of scrumptious chocolate and mint - order today and save 10% using the special promo code MINTALPS - courtesy of your friends here at eodfudge.com!
